Inverters are intricate components whose performance significantly affects the driving experience. To accurately assess and develop these systems, they must be tested in isolation from other parts of the vehicle. This requires a dedicated test system (TS) that allows for the independent evaluation of the inverter, starting from the early development stages. Such a specialized testing setup not only ensures a more effective verification process but also reduces the time needed compared to testing in a real-world prototype vehicle.  Our testing system incorporates advanced features like AC active load, which models back the Electromotive Force (EMF), and End-of-Line (EOL) inverter testing. It also supports Encoder and Resolver emulation, along with a machine model for motor velocity, enabling comprehensive simulation and analysis of inverter functions.

This unique Universal Inverter works with all of the most-common types of AC motors (Asynchronous Induction, Synchronous Permanent Magnet, and IPM – Internal Permanent Magnet) without changing hardware or loading different software. Unico offers more than one rating – the most popular unit is a water-cooled inverter that can accept a DC input of 0-900VDC and has a nominal 520VAC rating.
