Unico Service Department can perform any of the above preventative maintenance measures on site. Contact information below is provided should you decide to consider that option. Also provided is contact information for our Parts Department if you wish to perform any of these measures yourself and need parts.

Unico provides software downloads for USB Drivers, PCTerm 3.7, Archive Utility, and Network Configuration Files. Browse the list below or contact us for immediate help. Our goal is to get you up and running as quickly as possible.

USB Drivers

The following drivers are necessary for operation of a Unico high-speed USB-to-serial adapter 714-070. Please download and install the appropriate driver for your operating system before connecting one of these adapters to a USB port on your machine.

PCTerm 3.7

Service engineers can be contracted to work full-time in your plant. This puts expertise at your disposal when you have numerous Unico installations at one location or extensive new equipment.

Installation

  1. Extract the contents of the .zip file to a temporary
    folder on your computer.
  2. Run the file Setup.exe in this folder and follow the
    instructions.
  3. After installation is complete, discard the temporary
    folder created in step 1 and its contents.

Archive Utility

The Unico Archive Utility is an application that allows you to compare two data archives. Archives can be taken using either PCTerm or UEdit®. The archives can be from either a Unico drive or a Unico process control rack. The Archive Utility will quickly compare the two files and point out the differences in values. The differences can then be saved as a separate text file or printed.

Network Configuration Files

Electronic Data Sheet (eds.txt) and Generic Station Description (gsd.txt) files are provided for Unico’s products. eds.txt and gsd.txt files are simple text files used by network configuration tools to identify and commission devices on a network.

Service

Unico has an experienced service staff that provides telephone support, emergency service, and start-up assistance from both the corporate and regional field offices. Our goal is to get you up and running as quickly as possible.

Telephone Support

Our 24-hour emergency support line is the first place you should turn when you have a problem. Support personnel will work closely with you to troubleshoot problems over the phone or via modem.

Field Service

If necessary, a service engineer can be dispatched to your plant to provide on-site assistance with complex problems.

Start-Up Assistance

Unico can provide assistance during the commissioning process to ensure timely, orderly start-up of new equipment.

Contract Engineers

Standard product and customized system training courses foster reliable and efficient troubleshooting techniques. Courses can be given at our facility or yours or online over the Web. UBIT™ interactive training CDs provide a self-paced training alternative.

Demo Stands are invaluable as in-house training aids and for testing and troubleshooting products and systems.

Online Training

Instruction over the Web – Unico’s online training program help customers become more confident and self-sufficient in working with Unico products. Online training augments Unico’s offering of in-person classes and other training aids by providing convenient Web-based access to personalized instruction at minimal cost. Many of the courses are given free of charge. Training classes are conducted live. Recordings of past sessions will be made available online for those who cannot attend the live events.

Parts & Repair

Unico has experienced engineers and team members for parts and repairs. You can reach our team for telephone support, emergency service, and start-up assistance from both the corporate and regional field offices. Our goal is to get you up and running as quickly as possible.

Overview

Unico recognizes the importance of providing customers with timely replacement parts and repair services to help them remain in production. The Parts Department provides around-the-clock assistance with emergency spare parts within the United States. The Repair Department offers complete repair services for products manufactured by Unico.

Services

Emergency parts are sometimes available through regional sales and service offices as well. After normal business hours, emergency parts are available using the after-hours support line (262.886.5678). Unico also provides suggested spare part lists upon request. For advice on which parts to stock, please contact the Parts Department.

Ordering Parts

To order parts, please contact the Parts Department by phone, fax, or email. Be prepared to provide the Unico part number and quantity requested for each item, an approved purchase order number, and bill-to and ship-to instructions. The Unico system number should also be provided to assist in identifying system-specific parts. If a quotation for spare parts is desired, simply fax or email the requested items and quantities to Unico. Parts with selectable or programmable functions and/or software may require additional information, such as program and revision numbers.

Parts Warranty

Rush Repair

If your equipment is down, Unico can schedule an immediate repair on the part when it arrives. A 25% special handling fee will be added to the repair price for rush repair service unless the repair is covered by warranty.

Regular Repair

Regular repairs are scheduled in the master repair schedule and prioritized by date received. A several week turnaround can be expected, depending upon departmental loading. Larger assemblies, motors, inactive or obsolete parts, and non-Unico manufactured items may take longer in order to secure repair components.

Repair Return Procedure

All products returned to Unico must have prior authorization. Call the Unico Repair Department to obtain a return material authorization (RMA) number. Be prepared to provide a purchase order number, and for each repair item, the Unico part and serial numbers and an explanation of the priority of the repair. Please apply an identification tag for each part with the RMA number and a description of the failure, including any symptoms or other information that may help us determine the cause of the failure.

Repaired parts are returned with a report that provides information on the repair and includes our finding on the suspected cause of the failure. Multiple-part repair orders are shipped complete unless we receive instructions to make multiple shipments.
